5 fun winter sports activities besides skiing in the Wildkogel Arena!

We’ve put together five fun winter sports activities especially for those who (still) can’t, don’t want to, or don’t dare to ski or snowboard, so they can also have a fantastic holiday in the Wildkogel Arena and be the first to suggest going back to Austria on holiday next year!
1. Tobogganing
The 14 km long, illuminated toboggan run of the Wildkogel Arena is one of the area's biggest attractions and is particularly popular with both children and adults. The ride takes about 45 minutes and covers an impressive 14 kilometers. Along the track, you'll find several cosy huts where you can stop for a tasty snack or drink. The track is even illuminated until 10:00 pm! You can rent a toboggan in the village of Bramberg am Wildkogel, at the bottom or at the mountain station opposite Sport 2000 Herzog. It’s also possible to book a toboggan online in advance. All in all, the ride is a magical experience and an absolute must-do!
2. Snowshoe Hiking
For those who enjoy a walk through the fairytale-like Austrian winter landscape, snowshoe hiking is a must. With specially prepared snowshoes, you can easily walk through deep layers of snow and discover remote parts of the snowy landscape. There is a variety of routes, ranging from easy walks to seriously challenging tours. In short, something for everyone, and you'll be amazed at the stunning surroundings!
3. Paragliding
If you're looking for a real adrenaline kick, you can find that in the Wildkogel Arena as well. Paragliding is a unique adventure to admire the Austrian natural beauty from above. When paragliding, sometimes called parapenting, you essentially fly like a bird over a spectacular landscape filled with snowy mountain peaks and valleys. All of this is done under the guidance of experienced instructors. An experience you won’t soon forget.
4. Cross-Country Skiing
In the Wildkogel Arena, you can enjoy fantastic cross-country skiing starting from the village of Bramberg am Wildkogel. A great example of a beautiful route is the Smaragdloipe, with its enchanting winter landscape and views of the mountain. Along the way, you can enjoy delicious food at cosy mountain huts and restaurants. The range of difficulty levels makes the trails accessible for both beginners and experienced cross-country skiers. A sporty activity you can do with the whole family!
5. Curling
The atmosphere at curling events is really great! It’s always fun, there’s music, everyone can dress up in funny outfits, and you can enjoy a tasty snack and drink. It’s all about having fun, the rules are often flexible, and there’s plenty of room for socialising!
How does it work? Curling is a bit like pétanque, but on ice. Two teams try to get stones as close as possible to the centre of a target ring, the 'house'. Everyone takes turns throwing a heavy granite stone and can guide it by brushing the ice and making it spin. The aim is to place the stones cleverly and push or block your opponent’s stones. Points are scored by looking at which stones are closest to the centre.
