Your chalet expert in Austria
Authentic and versatile for athletes and families alike
The Tauern in the north and the Nockberge in the south: The Katschberg-Aineck ski area is full of charms and contrasts. It lies on the border between Carinthia and Salzburg, receives plenty of sun from the south and plenty of snow from the other directions in time for the start of the season. Because it is quite high, namely between 1,100 and 2,200m, the snow is guaranteed well into the spring. Nevertheless, it is one of the larger ski resorts that is not crowded yet. The waiting times at the lifts are manageable and the 70km of slopes offer space for everyone.Family friendly
The excellent facilities for kids make this ski area ideal for families with (small) children.
Versatility
You can not only ski but also enjoy cross-country skiing, tobogganing, winter hiking and much more!
On the slopes
Hop on the slopes almost immediately in the morning and ski right back to your holiday home.

About Katschberg-Aineck
Katschberg-Aineck is located between the authentic Austrian villages of St. Margarethen and St. Michael in the Lungau—the Katschberghöhe settlement is even in the middle of the ski area. It is suitable for all skiers, even the more ambitious, who are looking for new challenges, such as the Direttissima steep slope with up to 100% gradient. In the evening, you can access Königswiese for night skiing, free for all ski pass owners.
Katschberg-Aineck is ideal for families who, in addition to skiing and tobogganing fun, are looking for a pleasant atmosphere and versatile experiences. Here, everyone gets their money’s worth. And because the area is also popular in the summer, there is also a lot to do off the slopes.
16 lifts transport winter sports enthusiasts almost directly from their front door to the Katschberg-Aineck ski area, which has a particularly high number of middle-class ski runs. In particular, the 6km long valley run to St. Margarethen is very worthwhile. If you are in the mood for more, you can also use the special Lungo ski pass for nearby ski resorts. Try the Grosseck Speiereck. Here, you’ll find a total of 300km of slopes and 200km of cross-country ski trails available.
In the Katschberg-Aineck ski resort, you can choose between the regular ski pass and the Lungo pass. If you stay exclusively in this ski area, the regular ski pass is recommended. With the Lungo ski pass, however, you can ski indefinitely in all the Lungau ski areas, including the nearby Grosseck-Speiereck and Obertauern ski areas; you are not tied to a single ski resort and still have the opportunity to explore other slopes at any time. The price difference is insignificant.
Of course, we offer attractively located and modern chalets in each of these locations. Apartments in the ski resort Katschberg-Aineck

Ski Tours and Hikes
Katschberg-Aineck is known for its unusually wide range of ski tours. There are several groomed trails and countless opportunities that include beautiful deep snow runs. Moonlight ski tours and numerous events are also offered. The absolute highlight is the Nockberge Trail, which leads across the rolling hills of the Nockberge in four daily stages, including wellness stages with culinary highlights.Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-country skiers are also considered in the Lungau region because the flat, snow-sure valley bottom at an altitude of more than 1,000m is perfect for this purpose. With around 200km of tracks, even the most avid cross-country skier gets plenty of opportunities to let off steam. Several trails start and end in St. Margarethen and other nearby villages.Tobogganing
Do you like sledging? During the ski season, a 1.8km long toboggan run is open on the Katschberg—ideal as a relaxing end to a wonderful ski day!Après-Ski
The centre of the après-ski in Katschberg-Aineck is Katschberghöhe, which fills up in the winter with Pistenhasen. Here, on the connection to Rennweg, lies the centre of the winter sports area: on two sides rise the Aineck and the Chaneck at over 2000m altitude. Both mountains are peppered with cosy huts, terraces and bars.Even More Winter Fun
In addition to skiing and snowboarding, you can also put on snowshoes and, like 100 years ago, go on hikes through the countryside. Even in classic hiking boots, it can be well on well-prepared winter hiking trails. And even in town, you can take part in a torch-lit walk at night. Horse-drawn sleigh rides are also offered. In Lungau, you will find many ways to relax: spa services and thermal baths are offered in several places. For some, the rich offer of local cuisine is already a wellness experience. The offers of the Katschberg-Aineck ski resort in numbers
