Destination summary

Dienten am Hochkönig is located in the Salzburger Land, a region with abundant precipitation that reliably falls as snow in winter and provides high snow cover. The village has only 800 inhabitants and the streets are small. That is why people like to leave their cars there and stroll to the various sports and leisure facilities on foot instead. This cosiness and the enticing attraction, especially for children, are also the reason that families flock here. Another reason is the rather excellent toboggan run.

Dienten is not necessarily known for its exuberant après-ski, which makes it all the more attractive for holidaymakers who want to enjoy peace and tranquillity. Nevertheless, there are more than enough possibilities for an enjoyable evening. In the various restaurants, bars or pubs in Dienten you can have a bite to eat or warm up with a delicious drink. There is even a disco for music lovers. In the sports shops, you will find all the winter sports equipment you need and you can rent ski equipment if you’re only after something temporary.

In Dienten you can use the village ski bus free of charge to take you to the various locations. The other ski buses in Hochkönig can be used free of charge by skiers with ski equipment and a valid ski pass. That means you only need your car for the return journey.

Dienten is the name of the Sagendorf. Here one easily conjure up old stories of fairy sightings and the mystic "Übergossenen Alm", to which trips are also offered. In general, it is worth exploring the scenic beauty when you visit. In winter there, you won’t find hiking and climbing available everywhere, but the royal ski tour over the peaks of the local mountains is an undisputed highlight of every holiday.
