The village of Mittersill is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern mountains in Salzburgerland. It's a popular place because of its central location between the Pass Thurn and Felbertauerns. The village is located in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park at an altitude of 789 metres and is part of the Kitzbühel & Kirchberg (Kitzski) winter sports area. Due to its central location, you can also easily travel to the neighbouring ski areas Wildkogel Arena, Zell am See or Zillertal Arena. The Kitzbühel & Kirchberg (Kitzski) ski area is snow-sure and a paradise for everyone, as there are slopes for all levels, and you can enjoy sun and snow from December to the end of April. Demanding skiers venture down the extremely steep piste of the Hahnenkamm while families appreciate the range of amusement parks and toboggan runs. And those who want to enjoy themselves in style have definitely come to the right place.

Short description of Mittersill
The central location of Mittersill provides many winter sports opportunities. The village is located between different ski areas, so there is something to do for every type of winter sports enthusiast. Furthermore, because there is a warm and friendly atmosphere in Mittersill, you can enjoy a delicious meal or drink at one of the various bars or restaurants after a day on the slopes. Mittersill is not really known for partying and après-ski; Kirchberg is more suitable for this.
In the Kitzbühel & Kirchberg (Kitzski), you can enjoy incredible panoramic views of the Hohe Tauern peaks. The ski area is between 800 and 2000 metres, so you can count on excellent snow conditions throughout the season. It is also part of the large ski area Kitzbüheler Alpen.
Take the panorama lift in Hollersbach to an altitude of 1300m. You can start on the relaxed red and blue slopes or take the infamous Streiff (Hahnenkamm) descent; there is something for everyone. The village of Pass Thurn provides the connection between KitzSki Kitzbühel-Kirchberg and the other ski areas in the Kitzbüheler Alpen.
Mittersill is also very popular with cross-country skiing enthusiasts. Cross-country skiing is possible in different places and heights. There are routes in the valley, the Hoogmoor plateau, and the mountain. In Mittersill, the Blizzard Track starts in the centre. This one is very doable for beginners. In addition, a wonderful break is quickly around the corner through the various restaurants.
In Mittersill and the surrounding area, everything is a bit more chilled: relaxation, rest and enjoyment are at the top of the wish list of winter guests. If the slopes don't appeal to you, then romantic carriage rides, extensive winter walks, or wonderfully relaxing hours in the 'Hallenbad Kogler' will leave you with beautiful memories. In addition to an indoor pool, outdoor pool and covered slide, this swimming pool also has a large sauna and various wellness areas. You can use this for a fee. Moreover, the Hallenbad Kogler offers a cosy bistro where you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or a tasty snack.

The Kitzbühel & Kirchberg (Kitzski) ski area
The Kitzbühel & Kirchberg (Kitzski) ski area is located between Kitzbüheler Horn and Hahnenkamm at an altitude of 800 to 2000 metres. From the legendary "Streiff" to an ideal beginners' area, the ski area offers 188 km of perfectly groomed slopes and 41 km of ski routes. In addition to the varied slopes, there are numerous cosy mountain huts. This area has been voted the best ski area in the world for several years (seven times in a row). Every year in January, the World Cup elite plunge down the famous "Streiff" during the internationally most famous race of the Ski World Cup: The Hahnenkamm race.
Kitzski is part of the larger ski area Kitzbüheler Alpen. Together, the six ski areas offer the best conditions for a skiing holiday in Tyrol. SkiWelt Wilder Kaider- Brixenthal, Kitzski Kitzbühel – Kirchberg, Skistar St. Johann in Tirol, Skicircus Saalbach HInterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Bergbahn Buchensteinwand-Pillersee and Steinplatte in Waidring. Together good for about 900 km of slopes.
The Wildkogel Arena
The ski area of the Wildkogel Arena can be reached by car in just 10 to 15 minutes. The Wildkogel Arena (820 to 2235 m) is a cosy family ski area with 16 modern lifts, 75 kilometres of slopes and many fantastic descents. In addition, the Zillertal is only a 30-minute drive away, so you can visit different areas.

The Kitzbüheler Alpen All-Star-Card is used in the Kitzbühel & Kirchberg (Kitzski). This card gives you access to the ten major ski areas in Tyrol and Salzburg: Kitzbühel & Kirchberg, SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, Schneewinkel, Hochtal Wildschönau, Alpbachtal, Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang, Zell am See & Kaprun (incl. Gletscher Kitzsteinhorn 3,203m).

Cross-country skiing
Around Kitzbühel and the Wilder Kaiser, you will find 580 km of groomed skating and classic cross-country trails. The Kitzbühel & Kirchberg (Kitzski) are mainly known for their broad valleys overlooking breathtakingly beautiful landscapes that are ideal for cross-country skiing.
Snowboarding
Thanks to the size of the area, there are also several options for snowboarders. For example, there are snow parks in Kitzbühel-Horn. Snowboarders enjoy plenty of space here; you can perfect your freestyle moves in peace.
Tobogganing
Toboggan fans will find more than enough space to let off steam in Kitzbüler. On the small toboggan run at Berghof in Hollersbach, you slide down the natural toboggan run for 2.5 km. And just 10 kilometres from Mittersill, in Bramberg, am Wildkogel, is the longest floodlit toboggan run in the world!
